We will start this blog by telling you what aeration actually means. Aeration is nothing but basically the process of absorbing oxygen from air. High amount of Oxygen is provided in the aeration tank as there is high BOD in the sewage. This cannot be naturally given, which is why aerators are used to provide Oxygen artificially. When the DO (dissolved oxygen) level goes down below 2mg/l, various anaerobic activities begin to take place. The main types of aeration methods are: Diffused air aeration — In this particular method, compressed air is blown across the sewage and air is diffused in sewage with the help of the diffuser. Diffusers are mainly 2 types (plate diffuser and tube diffuser).
